RED MEAT AND THE ENVIRONMENT Have you ever wondered how much your food choices weigh on the health of the planet? It is an important question that everyone should ask themself: In fact, the planet we live in needs our care and, even through food, we can take a small step which, together with that of millions of people, can build a great path ! The production of food and, consequently, the frequency that we buy it at and eat it leaves a mark, a real footprint on the planet. To reduce this footprint, we can follow the rules of the Mediterranean Diet, changing the frequency that we eat some foods at compared to others. Among protein food sources, red meats have a greater impact on the environment than pulses, eggs and white meat, for example with regard to the water and the land used. However, it is important to underline that the Mediterranean Diet involves the consumption of meat only a few days a week (see the pyramid on pg. 5) . Consuming red meat according to the recommended portions and the suggested weekly frequency, will help you respect your personal health, but also that of the environment.
