HOW OFTEN SHOULD IT BE ON THE TABLE? ...meat cuts can substantially vary in composition and appearance due to the presence and distribution of fat. This is precisely why white meats differ from red meats! Unlike white meats, where fat is mainly present under the skin and in the abdomen (areas from where it can be easily removed), in red meats the fat is distributed in different tissues and parts of the animal (for example around the organs, under the skin, in the connective and muscle tissue) making it difficult, or sometimes impossible, to remove. DID YOU KNOW THAT... The Italian guidelines for healthy eating suggest having red meat no more than twice a week , preferring leaner meat, accompanied by large portions of raw or cooked vegetables. The ideal portion of red meat is 100 g, which corresponds to a slice of meat, a hamburger or 4/5 pieces of stew. DISCOVERING RED MEATS LET’S EAT WELL 21
